Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Today will be a special Thanksgiving update!
I hope you all had a great Turkey Day, and still feel really stuffed like I do.
On to Animal Jam!
Well, today's Thanksgiving. (Obviously). There wasn't really anything special that happened today on Animal Jam, as to be expected- they already brought out the items and gave us everything Thanksgiving in the update last Sunday. But let's go over a couple things that come every Thanksgiving- a lot of which barely anyone ever gets.
Who loves the Turkey Hat? No one. Or pretty close, anyway. It's a silly hat of- you guessed it- a turkey. It's not even that good, either. It has buttons for eyes, is sewed together, and the colors are really bad. Why? Who knows! But it comes every Thanksgiving and can be used to dress silly or crazy, so therefore can't be all bad.
And then there's the Pilgrim Hat. Great for reenactments, but who does that on Animal Jam? This hat is a crudely-cut brown hat with a yellow buckle on it, but no belt. It comes with two cream colored triangles that serve as the neck piece. Overall, not a popular choice, and even I can't figure out what someone would decide this would be good for. I guess they just put it in to honor our forefathers, or something.
The Fruit Bowl! This has come out for the past two years and came out, once again, this year. It normally lasts a little bit longer than the aforementioned hats, and is definitely more popular. It's used for feasts, dinner tables, decorations, you name it, you can find it in someone's den. It's a silver bowl filled to the brim with an apple, an orange, a pineapple, a banana, and two grapevines. It's an interactive object, and each fruit can be clicked to be "eaten." Click the bowl itself to refill it.
The rake and leaf pile came out last year, but only as a normal leaf pile. This year, they added a rake. Personally, I preferred it without a rake, but that may just be my opinion for what I was doing with it. Perhaps those who are just using it as a decoration for their den's yard would enjoy it a tad bit more. All in all, it's a pretty self-explanatory object. It's interactive, too; you can click the rake to sweep up a couple leaves. Other than that it's relatively basic.
So those are the three most common annual items, although this year they've come out with several new things- a Cornucopia, which I'm sure people will like, a Fall Wreath, and a String Of Leaves. These are less Thanksgiving based, bordering more on the lines of just Fall Items, but they're definitely new. I'm looking forward to using them and other items in this coming November/December.
Happy Thanksgiving!

A Guide, Part One {Terms to Learn...s}
Hey guys! So today I'm just going to be posting the start of a series of guides to help newcomers get around Animal Jam. We'll go through some terms that you may not understand yet, where to go for what you need, and various other things.
Terms! All sites have some sort of unspoken "code" that just comes with having been around awhile. Not everyone uses them, but they come up sometimes and you need to be prepared. This is especially true in Animal Jam, where we have a filter chat that creates some... Odd words to come up.
The first one is an acronym: JAG. It stands for Jam-A-Gram, the instant form of messaging to your buddies who are currently not in your area. So let's say your buddy is in Jamaa Township, but you're at your den having a party. You can JAG them to tell them 'hey, party at my den' or something along those lines.
This next one's pretty easy, and I'm sure we've all heard it at some point: AJ. Of course, it stands for Animal Jam. It's really just a faster way to say it, and I'm somewhat sure you can use it with limited chat.
That's another thing! Limited chat creates a filter, blocking you from saying certain things, including some weird stuff that shouldn't even be blocked. Along with free chat, which provides a somewhat filter-free speaking, it's probably the most commonly used type of chat. The other one is basically never used anymore, so we don't have to go into that.
Anyway, limited chat can be really annoying, and it causes people to have to create new words instead of the ones they want to say. For example, numbers.
One- normally just used a different word that sounds exactly the same. The most common use is 'won.'
Two- same thing: Spell it differently, but it sounds the same. Normally 'too' or 'to.'
Three- Here's where you have to just start using the closest you can get to the actual word. The most commonly used is 'tree.'
Four- Same as one or two. Most common? 'For.'
Five- 'Hive.'
Six- This one's a little harder to find something close to, and it changes a lot, but normally it's something that sounds sort of the same, like 'sick.'
Seven- Not really many substitutes. A lot of people use two words at once, like 'Save then' or something like that. Again, it varies.
Eight- 'Fate,' 'Late,' something like that.
Nine- Again, something that sounds similar. Normally it's the lower numbers that are used the most, so I don't really see people trying to imitate the number nine.
Ten- I don't think I've ever seen anyone use ten, but if you ever do need to, just use something similar. 'Hen,' maybe?
So anyway, there's a ton of different words that are filtered by limited chat, but if you see someone say a word that's out of context, normally it's pretty easy to guess what it is. Here's a tip: Use the other words in the sentence to figure out what the word probably means, then find a word that sounds like the one they used. It sounds harder than it is, really.
Happy Thanksgiving!

News, Week One {Polar Bear and Gloves To Wear}
Hey guys! This is my new blog, AJ [Un]Official. I'm Raven, an Animal Jam girl who's been playing since beta. I can tell you almost everything there is to know about Animal Jam, and I'll be keeping you updated on the news. Already we have some cool stuff!
So the newspaper update came in- that's the update they give every two weeks when they bring in another newspaper. Polar Bears are here! And, no surprise, they're members only and you have to buy them with diamonds. Overall, they're pretty unimpressive. To me, they seem sort of like the rhinos when they first came out; there was a ton of hype about it, but it turns out they don't go well with the patterns or with clothes. Nevertheless, I'll be getting one when I earn ten diamonds.
On a similar topic, if you buy a membership card from now until the end of December, you get a polar bear pet! This, I'm a little bit more excited about, mostly just because pets are cute and awesome, and I'll probably be getting a three-month membership card for Christmas. Woohoo!
There's really not much else for news, other than the presents are coming soon. For those new to Animal Jam, these happen every year- each day you log in during the month of December, you get a present. I believe this continues throughout the whole month, even after Christmas. If I remember correctly, you still get a spin on the Daily Wheel, along with the present. It's pretty cool, and it's also where bows originally came from. The first bow came out two years ago, as a holiday present. They brought them in the year after, also, as one of the monthly presents. Last year, however, they did not, unless it happened on a day I couldn't log on. Considering there were only two days that I wasn't able to even stop and check, I highly doubt that there were any bows.
One extremely panic-inducing thing happened, though, not long after the update. This caused a huge outcry from Jammers, including some protests and screaming. We logged in to find that we could no longer access the normal Jamaa clothing store, Jam Mart Clothing. Many people walked into the store to buy the new gloves, but found that when they clicked on the tables, the shop was empty and their gems were marked as 0. No one had actually lost any gems, however, and contrary to popular belief, it was just a glitch. It's already gone- AJHQ got rid of the bug just a few hours ago. However, many people were yelling that the store had been robbed, or that a hacker had come in again. I'm pretty sure my brain formed a palm and just smacked the inside of my head right about then- after all, you can't exactly rob a store made out of HTML and Binary. Seriously people, learn some basic coding here.
Anyway, the store's back and the commotion's over, although I got some pretty good screenshots. Speaking of the store, however, they've come out with gloves! These come from the beta days, and now cost 750 gems each. I bought every single color, although really I only liked the one black one they had. However, that's just my personal preference, and I hope everyone thoroughly enjoys Animal Jam HQ's holiday gift to us.
Happy Thanksgiving!

P.S. So there was some problems with editing which made me have to delete this post and re-post it today, but if you don't really pay attention to the post date it doesn't really matter. This was actually posted on the 20th, for those who care.
